Northern Roots

Originally from Avon Lake, Ohio, Geary grew up as an avid sports fan. While she wasn't the strongest on the softball diamond, she found herself a home in the press box shadowing the PA announcer for the Avon Lake Shoremen.

Geary then attended Ohio University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and a minor in Sports Management. As an E.W. Scripps School of Journalism student, Geary was heavily involved with Ohio Athletics and the ESPN3 Program. Her senior year, she was the Head Coordinator of Broadcasting, keeping the heartbeat of sports production and on-air talent alive during a hiring freeze for six and a half months.

Breaking Barriers

In addition to taking on the responsibility of leading the ship, Geary also broke barriers for students across campus.

During the height of the pandemic, Geary and fellow classmate Bryan Kurp built a virtual way to deliver traditional in-person conferences on Zoom. This model was used for 18 months for a multitude of events.

In the fall of 2020, she and 14 other classmates created the 740Zone, an independent media outlet covering high school football in the southeast Ohio region. A short stint that kept an old flame burning for a love of local sports coverage.

At Ohio Athletics in 2022, she was the first sideline reporter to be part of the broadcast team since the winter of 2018. From 2019 through the end of her senior year, she was also the first radio sideline reporter for the Bobcats.

Outside of Athens

A Northeast Ohio native, Geary found herself in her backyard of Cleveland as an opportunity for growth.

In the summer of 2021, she was a Production Assistant for Bally Sports Great Lakes primarily working as a stage manager for Cleveland Indians LIVE!, the shoulder programming before and after baseball games.

After graduating college and leaving Athens behind, Geary moved back to Cleveland to work as a Digital Content Producer for WEWS - News 5 Cleveland. During her short stint in local news, Geary covered some of Cleveland's biggest storylines including Deshaun Watson joining the Cleveland Browns in the midst of sexual assault accusations, the Cleveland Guardians first season after changing the name, the Ohio State Buckeyes being a powerhouse in the Big Ten and more.

Heading South

Since moving south, Geary has hit the ground running.

Since joining Elon, Geary has led Elon Sports Vision through numerous broadcasts, the most notable being a buzzer-beater winner that was featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 segment at No. 1 on Nov. 27, 2023. Earlier in the semester, the broadcast was also highlighted for a long shot goal at No. 9 in early September.

She freelances with the UNCG Spartans as on-air talent and graphics for their ESPN+ productions for volleyball and basketball. Additionally, she is an asset manager with Golf Space Collective, a digital marketing firm specific to the golf industry.

Geary is open to new opportunities that may fall into her lap, as long as it doesn't conflict with her schedule at Elon.

With the world in the palm of her hand, she is ready to take each day and make the most out of it professionally and personally.
